Icelandair is set to operate flights to 19 destinations across the US and Canada in 2025, including the introduction of new routes to Miami and Nashville.
This expansion marks a significant increase in daily transatlantic operations, with a record 25 daily departures from Keflavik International Airport.
The airline’s first-ever Keflavik-Nashville flight will launch on April 10, 2025, operating four times a week using a Boeing 737 MAX 8, benefiting from Icelandair’s new partnership with Southwest Airlines. Meanwhile, the Miami route will commence on October 25, 2025, operating three times per week on the Airbus A321LR.
Other recent additions to the network include Baltimore, Detroit, Halifax, Pittsburgh, and Raleigh Durham, reinstating or expanding services to previously served destinations.
Icelandair will deploy a strategic mix of year-round, summer, and winter seasonal flights to optimize efficiency. The airline will operate up to 25 daily flights, surpassing its previous record of 23 daily flights to North America. Boston and Seattle will lead with a maximum triple-daily service, while New York JFK, Toronto, Chicago O’Hare, and Washington Dulles will operate twice daily.

This strategic deployment of seasonal and high-demand routes allows Icelandair to balance load factors and improve yield management while maintaining year-round service to key destinations.
Despite the expansion, Icelandair has discontinued flights to several airports in the past, primarily due to competition and market shifts. These include:
Destination Service Period Anchorage 2013-2020 Cleveland 2018 only Edmonton 2014-2020 Dallas/Fort Worth 2018-2019 Kansas City 2018-2019 Montreal 2016-2020, 2022 Philadelphia 2017-2020 Orlando Sanford 2006-2015 (Replaced by Orlando International) San Francisco 2005-2006, 2018-2020 Tampa 2017-2019
With new-generation aircraft like the Airbus A321LR and Boeing 737 MAX 8, Icelandair is positioning itself for fuel efficiency and optimized long-haul performance. The Keflavik hub will continue to serve as a key transatlantic connection between North America and Europe, offering seamless connectivity for passengers.
