Icelandair expands to 19 US and Canadian airports in 2025 with record daily flights

Sunday, February 2, 2025

Icelandair is set to operate flights to 19 destinations across the US and Canada in 2025, including the introduction of new routes to Miami and Nashville.

This expansion marks a significant increase in daily transatlantic operations, with a record 25 daily departures from Keflavik International Airport.

New & Seasonal Routes

The airline’s first-ever Keflavik-Nashville flight will launch on April 10, 2025, operating four times a week using a Boeing 737 MAX 8, benefiting from Icelandair’s new partnership with Southwest Airlines. Meanwhile, the Miami route will commence on October 25, 2025, operating three times per week on the Airbus A321LR.

Other recent additions to the network include Baltimore, Detroit, Halifax, Pittsburgh, and Raleigh Durham, reinstating or expanding services to previously served destinations.

Flight Frequency and Expansion Strategy

Icelandair will deploy a strategic mix of year-round, summer, and winter seasonal flights to optimize efficiency. The airline will operate up to 25 daily flights, surpassing its previous record of 23 daily flights to North America. Boston and Seattle will lead with a maximum triple-daily service, while New York JFK, Toronto, Chicago O’Hare, and Washington Dulles will operate twice daily.
